Hotel Sacher, the historic Vienna institution behind the Original Sacher-Torte, tapped KAWS for its 2026 Artists' Collection, an annual series in which a contemporary artist is invited to reimagine the brand's iconic wooden box packaging as a limited-edition collectible. This release was limited to 1,000 total units.

The 2026 edition featured SPOKE TOO SOON (2021), a work depicting COMPANION emerging from a pile of rubble. one of the more resonant images in KAWS's catalog, and a fitting choice for a project centered around endurance and tradition. The design bridged KAWS's recurring exploration of vulnerability and perseverance with Sacher's nearly two-century legacy of craft. The artwork has also recently been seen in KAWS recent book, Spoke Too Soon.

Now in its eighteenth year at the time of release, the Artists' Collection has featured work from Georg Baselitz, Robert Longo, Erwin Wurm, and Katherine Bernhardt, among others. Proceeds from the 2026 edition benefited NF Kinder, a Vienna-based patient organization supporting children with neurofibromatosis.
