Baby Milo - BAPE - 2011
The KAWS x BAPE “Dissected Baby Milo” is a 2011 collaboration that splits BAPE’s Baby Milo character down the middle to reveal a vibrant internal anatomy on one side and classic Baby Milo styling on the other, released in black, brown, and grey editions of 500 each at a retail price of $180.
Retail Price: $180
Edition Size: 500 per color
Released on February 24, 2011, the Dissected Baby Milo figure was part of a continued collaboration between KAWS and Japanese streetwear giant A Bathing Ape. The toy stands around 7.2 inches tall and presents BAPE’s iconic Baby Milo character split in half, with one side showing the original cartoon-like figure and the other exposing a stylized anatomical interior. This split design carries over KAWS’s well-known dissected motif, previously seen in his Companion figures, but applied here to a more playful and youthful form. The internal sculpt is painted in vivid color, creating a striking contrast against the clean outer half.
The figure was produced by Medicom Toy and released in three colorways—black, brown, and grey—with each version limited to 500 pieces. It retailed for $180 and was sold through select BAPE stores and partners. While rooted in streetwear culture, the piece quickly became a standout in the art toy world thanks to its clean execution and crossover appeal. Today it is considered a grail for collectors who appreciate the fusion of pop art, character design, and iconic branding.
