The Promise is a scaled-down version of KAWS’s monumental sculpture unveiled in Qatar’s Dadu Gardens during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The vinyl figure shows two Companions—one adult-sized, one child-sized—sharing a stylized earth between them. It’s a rare moment of generational storytelling in KAWS’s body of work. The pose is simple, but the intention is clear: a passing of care, responsibility, and future into smaller hands.
The figure stands approximately 13.4 inches tall and was released on November 22, 2022 in three colorways: grey, brown, and black. Sold through KAWSONE as an open edition, each box included both characters fixed in position and was priced at $480. While not limited by number, the piece was gone within minutes. Collectors responded to the emotional clarity and symbolism that felt timely and quietly powerful.
