KAWS teamed up with the beloved Japanese TV characters Gachapin (green) and Mukku (red) to create KACHAMUKKU, a figure that feels like a mash-up best friend hugging you from both sides. Each side reflects a different personality, complete with fuzzy texture on one half and smooth vinyl on the other, both sporting X‑eyes. Debuting at the KAWS TOKYO FIRST exhibit in fall 2021, it instantly became a nostalgic highlight for those who grew up with the characters.

This sculpture was released as an open edition set in two colorways: green/red and all‑black. The green/red version hit select Tokyo outlets and later became available on KAWSONE in April 2022, with a retail price of $320 in Japan. Though not numbered, it came with a certificate of authenticity and NFC chip. The set’s dual nature and cultural mash-up resonated deeply with collectors, pushing it beyond just another figure into a symbol of playful collaboration and childhood memory.
