Following his 2007 Darth Vader release, KAWS unveiled the Stormtrooper figure in 2008 as part of his continued collaboration with Lucasfilm and Medicom Toy. The figure combines the full Stormtrooper uniform—from molded chest plating to the helmet’s iconic black detailing—with KAWS’s signature Companion body shape and crossed-out eyes. Rather than standing in a battle-ready stance, the figure’s arms rest at its sides, capturing that calm, reflective posture often seen in KAWS’s work. This fusion of militarized sci-fi iconography and pop art abstraction made it a standout piece among both Star Wars fans and art toy collectors.

The Stormtrooper Companion was released in an edition of 500 and retailed for $200 at launch, available primarily through OriginalFake and select art toy distributors. Like the Darth Vader release, it was never reissued, contributing to its long-standing rarity. Over time it has become one of the more coveted crossover pieces from KAWS’s early licensing experiments, symbolizing the moment when his art fully collided with global pop franchises. Clean lines, minimal color palette, and faithful armor detail helped the figure age well both aesthetically and in value.
