Wonderwall - 2010

The KAWS x Wonderwall figure is a 2010 vinyl collaboration with Japanese architecture and interior design studio Wonderwall, featuring a minimalist brick-textured form with X-eyes, released in black and red editions of 500 each for $250.

Retail Price: $250
Edition Size: 500 per color

Released in March 2010, this figure was the result of a collaboration between KAWS and Masamichi Katayama’s Wonderwall, a Tokyo-based architecture and interior design studio known for its high-concept retail spaces. The figure stands approximately 8.5 inches tall and takes on a strikingly minimal form—consisting of a block-shaped head atop large rounded feet, with no visible arms or torso. Its entire surface is covered in a raised brick pattern, and the head is finished with KAWS’s signature X-eyes. The design is based on a visual motif KAWS created for a Wonderwall graphic project in 2008, here reinterpreted in sculptural form.

Produced by Medicom Toy, the figure was offered in two colorways—black and red—with an edition size of 500 pieces per color. It retailed for $250 and was distributed through Wonderwall and OriginalFake channels. While not part of KAWS’s standard character lineup, the piece stands out for its graphic boldness and connection to the built environment, offering a rare intersection between vinyl art and spatial design. It remains a collector favorite for those drawn to KAWS’s more abstract and concept-driven releases.
