The KAWS x Bearbrick Dissected series debuted in 2010, expanding the artist’s anatomical Companion concept into Medicom’s Bearbrick silhouette. Offered in 100%, 400%, and 1000% sizes, each figure was split down the middle—half classic Bearbrick, half exposed Companion with sculpted muscle, bone, and organs. This mashup didn’t just nod to the original Companion Dissected from 2006, it translated KAWS’ signature visual language into a new format with sharp fidelity and clean contrast.
Released in three original colorways—Brown, Black, and Gray—the figures retailed at $40 (100%), $350 (400%), and $900 (1000%). The largest 1000% versions were limited to just 500 pieces per color, instantly elevating them to grail status for collectors. The drop landed at a moment when designer toys were surging in cultural relevance, and this release helped solidify Bearbrick’s crossover into fine art while reinforcing KAWS' presence in the collectible world. Over a decade later, Dissected remains one of the most recognizable and valuable Bearbrick collabs in circulation.
