Accomplice - 2002

Accomplice flips KAWS’s character language into a sly, rabbit-eared silhouette that feels playful and a little mischievous. Released in 2002 in Pink and Black, it became an early signal that his figures could move with the same presence as the larger sculptures.

Retail Price: $100
Edition Size: 1000 Pink, 500 Black (per Phillips)

Accomplice arrived as a tight two-color drop produced by Medicom Toy, carrying the X-eyes, gloves, and soft curves that define KAWS’s early vocabulary. The pose reads simple at first, then reveals small decisions that make it feel animated in space, from the rounded cheeks to the slightly forward stance; it is a compact figure designed to catch the eye on a shelf without shouting.

The release split the editions cleanly, with Pink produced in an edition of 1000 and Black in an edition of 500, each originally priced at $100 and measuring roughly 9.5 inches. Those specs are consistent across auction and catalog listings, and the Medicom Toy stamp on the feet is the tell that you are looking at the original 2002 run.
