The Korea edition of KAWS:HOLIDAY launched in July 2018 and introduced a new global series of large-scale outdoor installations and companion collectibles. This inaugural event featured a 92-foot-long inflatable Companion reclining peacefully on Seokchon Lake in Seoul, arms outstretched and eyes closed in a meditative pose. It was the first time KAWS had created a public work at this scale in Asia, and the image of the massive floating figure quickly went viral, cementing the HOLIDAY concept as an extension of his fine art practice into accessible, travel-based experiences.

To accompany the installation, KAWS released an 8.5-inch vinyl figure echoing the reclining pose. Marketed as a bath toy, the figure came in three colorways: brown, grey, and black. It was produced as an open edition in collaboration with AllRightsReserved and sold online for roughly 153 dollars. Though not limited by edition number, the figures were only available during the event period and have since become highly sought after. As the first release in what would become a series spanning locations like Taipei, Mount Fuji, and Singapore, HOLIDAY Korea holds a special place in the history of KAWS's evolving public and collectible art practice.
