A reclining, cross-sectioned COMPANION, Resting Place splits the figure between exposed anatomy and smooth form. The pose reads as both vulnerable and calm, a breather taken mid-story, with both hands on the ground holding itself up. It feels like a reset, a moment of quiet where the character lets the noise fall away.
Issued at the end of the OriginalFake era, the figure debuted in brown in August 2012 through the Aoyama store, then returned online in February 2013 with grey and black on KAWSONE. Retail sat at $315, and each color was produced in an edition of 500. Listings land the size around 8.5 × 9 × 11.5 inches, which tracks with in-hand measurements and dealer specs.
The idea extended beyond the shelf. Life-size versions exist, and a museum-scale Companion (Resting Place) is on permanent view at Espacio SOLO in Madrid. That step into larger formats underscores what the vinyl captures at home scale, a familiar character in a rare moment of rest that still carries real presence.
